Positioned behind the neighborhood mall near the Rhode Island Avenue metro, this dynamic aerosol mural is two stories tall and 275 feet long. The medley of colors, faces, geometric shapes, and flowers doesn’t so much translate into a story as brighten up the grey concrete parking lot and walkway to the public housing project behind the commercial strip. The gargantuan work is also a major point of interest as seen from the red line. The mural was sponsored by MuralsDC, a citywide program seeking to curtail illegal tagging and provide youth with a more constructive creative outlet. Public response has generally been enthusiastic.
